Mt. Laurel Council honors Retired and Senior Volunteer Program of Burlington County
The members of Mt. Laurel Township Council took some time at this week’s meeting to honor the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program of Burlington County as part of the fifth annual National Service Recognition Day. With support and funding from Rowan College at Burlington County and the Corporation for National and Community Service, the RSVP of Burlington County provides senior citizens ages 55 and older with opportunities to serve as volunteers in communities throughout Burlington County.
Mt. Laurel Township to hold Community Cleanup Day and Shred Day events on April 29
Earth Day may be celebrated on April 22, but this year in Mt. Laurel, the real day to go green will fall a week later on April 29. That Saturday morning will mark Mt. Laurel’s annual Community Cleanup Day and Shred Day where residents will have the opportunity to help cleanup their township and their homes. Throughout the morning, residents can beautify Mt. Laurel and do their part for the environment by volunteering to pick up litter at sites throughout the township or by disposing of unwanted, sensitive documents that will be shredded and recycled.
‘Bee Aware’ presentation and honey tasting at Mt. Laurel Library on April 13
Residents are invited to a free “Bee Aware and Honey Tasting” event at the Mt. Laurel Library on Thursday, April 13. This presentation will discuss the plight of insect pollinators, with a special focus on honey bees, detailing their decline known as colony collapse disorder, and what it means for the food supply, economy, and environment. Local beekeeper, Joel Sternin, will offer a free honey tasting before the talk starting at 6 p.m.
Lenape High School students selected for All-State Orchestra
Two Lenape High School musicians recently auditioned and were selected for the 2017 New Jersey All-State Orchestra.Harry Kim (on viola) and Andrew Pai (on violin) will perform in May and November concerts. There are two performances in November , one at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City and one at NJPAC in Newark.
