Mt. Laurel Area Women’s Club continues to meet third Tuesday of each month

The non-profit club for women from Mt Laurel and surrounding areas focuses on meeting other women, socializing and supporting local charities.

The Mt. Laurel Area Women’s Club continues to hold meeting on the third Tuesday of each month (except for the summer) from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Mt Laurel Community Center.

Although the club does not meet in in June, July and August, club members will still meet for dinner and other activities.

The club operates as a non-profit club for women from Mt Laurel and surrounding areas, focusing on meeting other women, socializing and supporting local charities.

With about 40 current members, the club is always looking to welcome new attendees.

Dues are $20 for the year, and all funds after expenses are donated to a local charity that the club votes on in May.

At the club’s January and February meetings, the club collected 821 items for Newborns in Need, to help new parents taking their babies home from the hospital.

Donations to Newborns in Need totaled $1,500 in new and used items. Items included 156 pieces of new clothing, 536 used items, 40 toiletries, 39 six-packs of diapers and 50 accessories.

Other recent charitable efforts have included donating four large gift baskets to the Catholic Charities Delaware House for a holiday drawing in December and helping local charity Cozies 4 Chemo cut fringe and prep 60 blanket pieces for their assembly at a MLK Day of Service.

According to the club, its January meeting also featured a member-run auction where the club raised $100 for charity by auctioning off unwanted holiday gifts, housewares and knick knacks to other club members.

At the club’s February meeting, Catherine Stanford of the AARP spoke about ways to prevent fraud and identity theft.

The club’s March meeting is set to feature the founder of Boomer Chicks, Patricia Osbourne, speaking about the importance of play in one’s life.

Our recent social outings for the club have featured monthly dinners on the second Thursday of each month, attending “Sister Act” at the Haddonfield Plays and Players and a regular bowling group that meets at Pinsetters.
