Kids and adults can keep busy with just some of the library’s events this summer.
Parents with little ones home from school don’t have to have their kids stay cooped up in the house all summer long.
The Mt. Laurel Library continues to host a range of programs for kids of different ages.
On June 27, July 11, July 18, Aug. 1, Aug. 8 and Aug. 15 the library will hold Summer Storytime events from 10:30 to 11 a.m. for ages 5 and under where kids can engage in stories, music, movement and more.
Also returning this year is the library’s “Summer Ceramics Week” for kids ages 7 to 12 in grades two through seven.
Every day from Aug. 7 to Aug. 11 from 2 to 3 p.m., children can use wet earthenware soft clay provided by the library to create bowls, plaques, animal sculptures and more. Once kids reach the end of the week, the group will ready to glaze their pieces.
Teens can also check out the library for many of its regularly scheduled teen events set to continue throughout the summer.
Just some events include Teen Game Night on July 12 and Aug. 15 for those in grades seven to 12, Teen Dungeons and Dragons games on July 14 and Aug. 11 for ages 12 to 18 and Teen Anime Club on July 26 and Aug. 29 where teens in grades nine through 12 can eat ramen and watch anime.
Kids of all ages are also invited to the library on Aug. 21 starting at 1 p.m. for the library’s Eclipse Viewing Party. The library will feature a craft activity and demonstrate a pinhole viewer, as everyone gets ready to view the partial solar eclipse that will be visible in the area on that day.
Adults aren’t left out at the library this summer either, especially those who were thinking about a trip to the beach, Locals are invited to get into a beach mood with a special library event entitled “Food and Fun Along the Jersey Shore” on July 18 at 2 p.m.
Food historian Judith Krall-Russo will be at the library to discuss summer activities related to the Jersey coastline and the different of foods, such as salt-water taffy and clam fritters, that have been associated with the Shore over time.
Book lovers are also in luck, as the next Friends of the Mount Laurel Library Book Sale and Media sale is set to begin on July 26 and last through July 29. As with past sales, all proceeds benefit the Mt. Laurel Library.
