Did The Beatles make America happy after JFK’s assassination made America sad? A Beatles scholar says the answer is complicated.
The Mt. Laurel Library will hosted a lecture on July 12 at 2 p.m. focusing on the possible correlation of The Beatles rise in popularity in America following the assassination of President John F. Kennedy.
Some Beatles authors have cited John F. Kennedy’s assassination as a cause of the Beatles’ sudden popularity in the United States. Their logic being that Kennedy’s assassination saddened America, then the Beatles made America happy again.
Beatles scholar Aaron Krerowicz says this commonly accepted answer is overly simplistic, and the real answer is more complicated.
Krerowicz will explain how with a lecture entitled “From the Shadow of JFK: The Rise of Beatlemania in America” at the Mt. Laurel Library on July 12.
