Mt. Laurel Girl Scout pair work for Silver Award by reorganizing historical society’s documents

Two Girl Scouts from Troop 22017, Alyssa Fleming and Janna Sawyer, have been diligently working to achieve their Silver Award, the second highest award of the Girl Scouts of the USA, and the highest honor bestowed upon a Girl Scout Cadette. The worked for approximately 50 hours at the Mt. Laurel Historical Society until they succeeded in creating an organized reference area for the people of Mt. Laurel to learn more about their town.

Cozies 4 Chemo charity to hold 5K Fun Run/1 Mile Walk fundraiser on Oct. 1

On Sunday, Oct. 1, Cozies 4 Chemo will be holding its Annual 5K Fun Run/ One Mile Walk at Laurel Acres park. This is the charity’s largest fundraiser of the year and allows the group to continue make and distribute no-sew fleece blankets to cancer patients going through chemotherapy, free of charge. This is the group’s 5th annual event, hosting more than 500 people who will come out to support the cause.

‘Out of the Darkness’ suicide prevention walk comes to Mt. Laurel Oct. 21

Locals join in the fight against suicide at the second annual Burlington County “Out of the Darkness” community walk for suicide prevention on Oct. 21 at Laurel Acres Park, 1045 S Church St. The event will take place from 9 a.m. to noon, in partnership with the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.

Rowan College at Burlington County Fest scheduled for Oct. 1

On Sunday, Oct. 1, Rowan College at Burlington County will hold RCBC Fest, a community celebration of the college’s new Mt. Laurel Campus. The day will feature activities for families, as well as an open house for future students, from noon to 4 p.m. Those who attend can explore RCBC’s newly-transformed Mt. Laurel Campus, as well as enjoy food, entertainment and fun for the whole family.

South Jersey Pops orchestra welcomes new music director for the 2017–2018 season

South Jersey Pops orchestra welcomes a new music director as it tunes up for the 2017–2018 season, which will mark its 48th season bringing jazz, classical and popular music to area residents. All shows are currently scheduled to begin at 3 p.m. and are tentatively planned to be performed at Lenape High School, 235 Hartford Road, starting Nov. 5.
