The event is once again organized by Mt. Laurel resident Kelly Neri, who lost her mother to breast cancer in 2013.
Mt. Laurel resident Kelly Neri is once again organizing a “PINK” Homerun Derby fundraiser set for Sept. 22 at the Laurel Acres Park Triplex at Red Field. This event is for grades one through seven and all towns/teams are welcome.
The event will raise money for Maryann’s Pink Warriors, a group created by Neri and her siblings to honor her mother, Maryann, who lost her battle at 56 years old in 2013.
According to Neri, her mother faced many obstacles because of the lack of resources that were available to her, so it has been Neri’s goal every day to not let her mothers fight be in vain and help other women in their journey any way she can.
For those currently fighting, Neri asks that they attend the Homerun Derby on Sept. 22 to be honored.
Neri says she and her group look forward to a “fun filled day with our community honoring, celebrating and remembering all of our Pink Warriors.”
Online registration is closed now, but those interested in the event can reach out to Neri before Sept. 20 at [email protected] for shirts or to participate.
Those interested can learn more on Facebook to see all the ways the group gives back and follow latest events at www.facebook.com/PinkWarriorMaryann.
In 2016, Maryann’s Pink Warriors was also officially sponsored by Unite for Her, as Neri said their goals and program aligned with Maryann’s Pink Warriors.
Unite for HER’s motto is “let the doctors take care of the cancer, we take care of the women”.
Neri said she has witnessed firsthand how “life changing and empowering the free services/monetary grants they provide are to these women.”
