The Oct. 30 event featured a panel discussion about the new book “Seven Days, Many Voices: Insights into the Biblical Story of Creations.”
Rabbis Benjamin David, Kevin Kleinman, and Mary Zamore took part in a panel discussion about their new book, “Seven Days, Many Voices: Insights into the Biblical Story of Creations” on Monday evening, Oct. 30, at Adath Emanu-El, located at 205 Elbo Lane in Mt. Laurel.
Rabbi William Kuhn, Rabbi Emeritus of Congregation Rodeph Shalom in Philadelphia, moderated the discussion about the anthology.
According to the rabbis, “Seven Days, Many Voices” creates new insights on the story of Creation.
Contributors, Kleinman and Zamore, and editor, David, discussed the chapters they wrote and answered questions from the attendees.
They also stayed to talk further with people and sign copies of the book.
David believes an open dialogue, such as this discussion, will only benefit the public.
“I feel very strongly that our speakers have so much to share with our community about the story of Creation,” David said. “When we dare to investigate the intricacies of the Creation text we come to see not only ourselves, but the imperatives with which we live as Jews.”
David is the senior rabbi of Adath Emanu- and edited “Seven Days, Many Voices.”
Prior to being senior rabbi, he served at Temple Sinai in Roslyn, N.Y., and taught at different temples throughout New York and Pennsylvania. In addition, he is a co-founder of the Running Rabbis, a social justice initiative that brings attention to important causes across the religious spectrum.
Kleinman is the associate rabbi, director of education at Main Line Reform Temple in Wynnewood, Pa. and a contributing author to “Seven Days, Many Voices.”
He graduated from Brandeis University and worked as a Jewish environmental educator in Connecticut and was soon ordained by Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion.
Kuhn is Rabbi Emeritus of Congregation Rodeph Shalom. He is coming up on his twentieth year with the congregation. He was an active member of the Jewish community before becoming a rabbi, once ordained he served on many different boards and committees, always trying to continue to spread the message of the Jewish faith.
Zamore is the executive director of the Women’s Rabbinic Network and the CCAR’s manager of mentoring. She is also a contributor to the Huffington Post. She is a contributing author and editor to “The Sacred Table: Creating a Jewish Food Ethic,” which was a finalist by the National Jewish Book Awards.
