On Friday, Dec. 29, the MHS Theater program will unite past and present students for a one-night-only production.
Moorestown High School Theater presents a special reunion for one night only with cast members of the 2004 Fall Play RUMORS, a classic comedy by Neil Simon. The free event will take place next Friday, Dec. 29 at 8 p.m. on the third floor of the Moorestown Recreation Center at 111 West 2nd Street.
The audience will be treated to “Scenes & Stories,” where current and former MHS students will read highlights of the play, led by MHS theater director Greg Harr. The cast will also share memories of doing the play 13 years ago and tell what they’ve been up to since graduating.
Scheduled to appear are original cast members Kelsey Pruitt Delaney (class of ‘07), Aaron Jones (‘05), Sarah Menaquale (‘06), Mark J. Parker (‘05), Kit Sheehan (‘05), Dr. Matthew Tolstoy (‘06) and Melissa Granite Ward (‘05). Filling in for a role is special guest and current MHS student Rohan Wadhwa (‘18).
Rumors is a farcical play about a group of well-to-do adults at an anniversary party trying to figure out what has happened to the hosts. The wife is missing, and the husband has passed out from being shot. The comedy premiered at the Old Globe Theatre in San Diego in 1988 before moving to Broadway that same year.
Harr directed the 2004 production, which was his first at MHS. He hopes to continue this “Scenes & Stories” series as an annual event for the theater department and the Moorestown community. Last winter, MHS alum Chris Newcomer visited for a special night of “Music & Stories.”
Snacks will be available for purchase, and donations to Moorestown High School Theater will be accepted and applied to future productions. Next up on the MHS stage is the Spring Musical, KISS ME, KATE on March 1, 2, 3, 9, 10 at 7:30 p.m.
