Music and Dance Medley

The Friends Enrichment Program of Moorestown Friends Meeting, will hold a Music and Dance Medley on Sunday, April 26, at 3 p.m., in the dining hall of Moorestown Friends School, East Main Street and Chester Avenue.

The event is a fundraiser for FEP, which was created in 1997 to provide enrichment activities to financially disadvantaged Moorestown children. Under FEP, qualifying children are given scholarships to attend summer camp, enroll in art classes or sports clinics, take private music lessons, or participate in other enrichment activities.

The Music and Dance Medley will showcase the Moorestown Friends School Chamber Ensemble under the direction of Brian Howard; a troupe from the Bowman Dance Company of Bowman School of Dance; the FEP Praise-Dancers under the direction of Katrina Hardee; Dennis Walter and Dennis J. Water as father-and-son percussion duettists; and three young FEP soloists enrolled in Perkins Conservatory of Music (Alex Harbet, voice, Khrystyne Hastings, violin, and Morgan Klinesmith, piano).

In a brief interlude between performances, Moorestown High School senior Katrina Hardee will be honored for her two years of community service as a FEP counselor and as choreographer and director of FEP praise-dancing activities. Miss Hardee has contributed more than 140 hours of community service to FEP.

The medley is an opportunity for people of all ages to enjoy a program of music and dance, to become acquainted with FEP children and their families, and to help support a program that has been a life-changing experience for many young people.

Refreshments will follow the performances. No admission fee will be charged. However, freewill donations will be gratefully accepted and the proceeds will be spent on 2009 enrichment scholarships.

FEP operates on a shoestring, without any endowment or invested income. Every year, it faces the challenge of raising funds, a challenge that, because of the economic downturn, is greater this year than it has ever been. For more information, call Monique Begg at (856) 235–3963.
