The local teachers union has announced it will declare an impasse in its negotiations with the Moorestown Board of Education.
“The negotiations committee for the board and the association have met seven times for approximately two hours each time,” Linda Alexandroff, co-chair of the board’s negotiation committee, said in a statement released by the school district. “During these meeting, we have exchanged proposals on salary, insurance and contract language. While we were able to settle some minor issues, there are several key areas in which we were unable to reach accord.”
The Moorestown Education Association will file a request for a mediator with the Public Employment Relations Commission. The appointed mediator will provide two to three sessions with both parties to help them agree on a settlement. In an effort to speed up the process, the board’s negotiations committee has announced it will file a joint request.
