Thousands of dollars for the Perkins Art Center

Perkins Center for the Arts has been awarded a grant of $10,000 from the Bank of America to fund its ARTS (Arts Reaching the Students) In-School Residency Program serving schools in Camden and Burlington Counties.

Through the ARTS Program, Perkins Center employs teaching artists in residencies at South Jersey schools. ARTS Residencies play a critical role for schools, supporting N.J. Core Curriculum Content Standards while modeling 21st Century Skills and providing students with authentic learning, teamwork and communication skills. The reputation of the program has grown since its inception; in addition to the 16 residencies proposed for this year, Perkins Center maintains a waiting list of area schools interested in hosting the program.

For over a decade, Bank of America (and earlier, Fleet Bank) has been a valued supporter of the ARTS Program, which is co-funded by the New Jersey State Council on the Arts and with additional corporate and foundation support.
