Two students awarded for donation efforts

Perkins Center for the Arts annually requests contributions to its camp hero fund in order to provide summer arts camp scholarships to children with limited means of living in Camden. This year, we were honored to receive funding support from two young adults, both long-term Perkins students.

Skylar Ray Noyes has been inspired by a documentary about children living in Camden, for a number of years. This year, she started a foundation called Skye’s the Limit, in order to help underprivileged girls from city environments. Skylar has been raising money for this foundation through lemonade stands, donations from friends and family, chores, pet care, and odd jobs. Through her efforts she was able to raise $400 and donated it toward the camp scholarship fund at Perkins Center. We look forward to seeing her foundation continue its good work.

Elizabeth Maguire has a long tradition of selecting a charity to feature as part of her birthday. This year, instead of presents, she asked the people who attended her birthday party to make a donation to Perkins Center’s camp hero program instead of birthday gifts. Her efforts were able to raise $175 toward our camp scholarship fund. We thank Elizabeth and her family for this generous act.

Perkins Center for the Arts is honored to have such generous young ladies as part of its family. We applaud these acts of generosity and their awareness of the diversity of need that exists in South Jersey.

Perkins Center for the Arts is a unique cultural organization dedicated to excellence in the arts and to providing a wide range of creative opportunities for people of all ages and every level of artistic development. For more information call (856) 235–6488 or visit www.perkinscenter.org
