Letter to the Editor: A thanks to the community for their support

Mary, Jerry, Holly and Griffin Keifer extend their thanks following a family tragedy.

In early October, we had a fire in our Moorestown home that, due to extensive smoke and soot damage, requires us to essentially rebuild the entire home. While we are devastated by the loss, the caring and generous response from our Moorestown community has been overwhelming. In this time where the world seems so divided on so many topics, it has been incredibly warming and comforting to be able to put all of that aside and just focus on the unwavering positivity and caring we are receiving from everyone. The outpouring of support has truly been remarkable.

To Moorestown’s first responders, you arrived in minutes and put yourselves in danger to get the fire quickly under control and help us. Thanks to your responsiveness, we are able to salvage items that would be irreplaceable. We thank you.

To our neighbors in Collins Park (and beyond), the sympathy, support, gifts, meals, temporary storage, other help (and even beds!) that have been offered have been overwhelming and the list goes on. Not a day has passed where we don’t feel you are all still looking after us somehow. You embody the larger spirit of generosity that is, to us, the core of the Moorestown spirit.

To Wells Fargo Bank on Main Street, you worked to provide us support in a unique time of need and you rallied support throughout the town’s business community for our situation. We thank you.

To Moorestown’s business community, you provided us gifts and support that have made getting through the first few months of this process so much easier than it could have been. There are too many of you to name, and we’re certain if we tried, we would fail to capture everyone. You know who you are! We thank you all.

To State Farm Insurance and its multitude of agents and adjusters, many of you who are friends and not even associated with our policy, thank you for being with us through the journey and continuing to stand at our side giving us confidence that this will be behind us sooner rather than later.

To the Moorestown Post Office, its carriers and Post Master, you made sure we received our mail wherever we happened to be, going above and beyond to carry our mail from place to place daily in case you might see us and be able to deliver us our mail promptly. We thank you for making sure we weren’t missing the countless important letters that we needed to get us to the next step.

To the Canton family from Canton Custom Homes, we stand with you now ready to recreate our home and thank you for all of your efforts, support and creativity in working to help us recover what was lost.

In all of the support we have called out, much less what we’ve inadvertently forgotten to mention, we feel that this amazing community has carried us forward. The conversations we’ve had with each of you have been personal and your generosity of spirit and action can’t be adequately conveyed in writing.

Thank you to all of you for your support. We are moving forward and trying to continue to laugh as we are comforted by the love and support provided by you all.

Moorestown is truly a very special place.

Mary, Jerry, Holly and Griffin Keifer
