Moorestown to host N.J. Arbor Day Event, asks for donations for trees

The Moorestown Tree Planting and Preservation Committee, in partnership with Moorestown Garden Club, Moorestown Improvement Association and the New Jersey State Forestry Services, Community Forestry Program, will host the New Jersey State Arbor Day Event on Friday, April 24 at Wesley Bishop Park in Moorestown at 1248 North Church Street. Moorestown was chosen to celebrate Sustainable Forestry Management in recognition of their 25th year as a Tree City U.S.A.

The Moorestown Tree Committee needs trees to support this exciting event. There will be over 200 volunteers planting trees (2 to 2.5” cal.) to create a beautiful urban forest surrounding athletic fields in Wesley Bishop Park of Moorestown. Just like our state’s trees, our volunteers work hard and need to be energized.

Would yoube willing to donate a tree to support this wonderful project? The goal is to plant between 50 and 100 trees at a cost of about $150 each.

The site for this year’s Arbor Day event, Wesley Bishop Park, is a 22-acre park named after Wesley J Bishop Jr. who died aboard the USS Arizona during the attack on Pearl Harbor. The park has multi-use fields for soccer, football, lacrosse and field hockey as well as baseball fields, playgrounds and restroom facilities. Moorestown and Wesley Bishop Park are ready to plant trees. Join us in supporting this prestigious milestone in our community.

Donations can be made by sending a check to Moorestown Tree Committee, 601 East Third Street, Moorestown, NJ 08057. Please make checks payable to Township of Moorestown marked for Arbor Day 2015. If you would like to donate actual trees, please contact the committee to coordinate delivery.

The Moorestown Tree Planting and Preservation Committee is a volunteer committee of the Township of Moorestown. Charitable contributions to governmental units are tax-deductible under Section 170©(1) of the Internal Revenue Code if made for a public purpose. Please consult your tax professional with any further questions or guidance you may need for your specific situation, as the township is unable to render tax advice to individual donors.
