Historical Society of Moorestown presents a speaker on “New Jersey Women in WWII” at the general meeting on Oct. 8 at 7:30 p.m. in the Community House, 16 E. Main St. in Moorestown.
Stockton University history professor Patricia Chappine will give a talk on her new book “New Jersey Women in WWII.” She will discuss how New Jersey’s women contributed to the state’s social initiatives and militarized industries during the war. She also will discuss how New Jersey’s women contributed in combat as nurses and pilots. Her talk should illuminate the lives of many women who gave as much as their male comrades, but are often overshadowed during commemorations that focus on the men of World War II.
Professor Chappine’s lecture kicks off the Historical Society of Moorestown’s New Jersey History Speaker Series which each month will feature a new speaker discussing some aspect of New Jersey history.
