Kelly Celine O’Brien, 18, of Moorestown, left this life suddenly on Monday, April 25. She was born Sept. 23, 1997 in Phillipsburg, the daughter of Elizabeth Hughes and the late Patrick Michael O’Brien. Kelly was a 2015 graduate of Moorestown High School and currently a student of Arcadia University. She was a dedicated student who enjoyed photography, music festivals, poi, drawing and camping. She felt an intense love and protectiveness for animals.

Kelly is survived by her mother, Elizabeth and step-father, Cornelius Hughes; brothers, Elijah Huertas and Wyeth Hughes; grandparents, Frank and Rita O’Brien, John and Michelle Huertas, Neal and Betsy Hughes; great-grandparents, Carmelo Huertas, Peter and Eleanor Giles; cousins, Julie and Taylor Cambra, Shea and Ian O’Brien; aunts and uncles, Michael and Beth Huertas, Kevin and Michelle O’Brien, Sean O’Brien, the late Kathy Huertas; her beloved dog, Mogwai; and many other family, friends and loved ones.

Kelly loved and was loved by a multitude of people who are too many to name here, but were very important in her life. All gravitated towards her because she was such a gentle loving soul. The family asks that you honor and remember Kelly by being kind to all the creatures of our planet who you meet in your life.

The Connell Funeral Home is honored to assist Kelly’s family. Guests are invited to celebrate Kelly’s life on Tuesday, May 3 at Moorestown Community House from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Memorial Contributions may be made in Kelly’s honor to Popcorn Park Zoo and Associated Humane Society, 1 Humane Way, Forked River, N.J. 08731.

This money will go towards the service and all remaining funds will go directly to Kelly’s family. Checks are payable to “Kelly O’Brien Memorial Trust Fund” and can be picked up, dropped off at 189 Highland Ave., Moorestown or at Wing King, 219 West Camden Ave., Moorestown.
