The following information was provided by the Medford Township Police Department.
Medford Police responded to a suspicious call on Aug. 6 from a resident in the Hoot Owl Development. The caller reported to police that an unidentified male in a large work truck stopped at the intersection of Christopher Mill Road and White Birch Trail.
The driver exited the vehicle and told a 15-year-old female she was beautiful. An unrelated witness in the area observed the encounter and the male subject entered the truck and drove away.
Police identified the driver as a 46-year-old male from Absecon. As a part of a previous sentence in Atlantic County, he was required to register as a Megan’s Law offender for a sexual assault and criminal sexual contact offense in 1989 and a criminal restraint and criminal sexual contact offense in 1993.
He was subsequently charged with harassment and released on his own recognizance, awaiting a court appearance in Medford Municipal Court.
