Medford Police Officer files lawsuit
Medford Police Officer Mark Hunsinger has filed a racial discrimination suit against the department.
The African American male claims he was subjected to “a hostile work environment” as the suit stated.
Hunsinger also claims he was denied various types of training despite more than 50 requests.
After previously serving as the president of the department’s union, the 15-year veteran was demoted from corporal to patrolman in 2005 and was never given the opportunity to reestablish himself in his former position.
Hunsinger is currently out of work due to an injury.
The Medford police department is now conducting an internal investigation into the racial discrimination allegations.
The township has hired a special criminal defense attorney to handle the case because it involves allegations by an officer seeking monetary damages.
