Police discovered a man in a vehicle outside a pizzeria was allegedly a wanted fugitive out of Miami before he accelerated away.
The following information is on file with the Evesham Township Police Department:
On Feb. 17 at 10:08 p.m., Evesham Police responded to the business parking lot of 789 E. Route 70 for a concerned citizen who reported a suspicious male sitting inside a vehicle outside a pizzeria.
During the course of the investigation, police say the officers discovered that the male was allegedly a wanted fugitive out of Miami. Prior to removing the male from the vehicle, police say the male accelerated at a high rate of speed, fleeing the parking lot.
Officers’ early attempts to stop the driver were unsuccessful. Rather than obeying the officer’s orders to pull over, police say the driver fled at a high rate of speed and operated his vehicle with a disregard for the safety of others.
Knowing the identity of the driver and the inherent risk of the pursuit endangered public safety, the officers quickly terminated the pursuit.
The investigation of the pursuit led to criminal charges against the driver, a male, age 45, last known address in Winslow. He has been charged with second-degree eluding and numerous motor vehicle violations. A no bail warrant has been issued for his arrest and his current whereabouts are unknown.
If anyone knows the location of the male, they are asked to contact the Evesham Township Police Department at (856) 983–1116, the Confidential Tip Line at (856) 983–4699 or email at [email protected].
