Evesham Police partner with 7-Eleven in ‘Operation Chill’ to build trust with local kids

Officers on patrol will have a supply of free Slurpee coupons to distribute to youth they feel act in an appropriate manner.

The Evesham Township Police Department and 7–Eleven are partnering again for the “Operation Chill” project to improve community police between the department and children of the township.

Now in its fourth year of the program, ETPD is partnering with 7-Eleven as it celebrates “Operation Chill.” The business is working with local police departments to distribute free Slurpee coupons to children through this community outreach effort. Officers on patrol will have a supply of the coupons and distribute them to those youth they feel act in an appropriate manner.

Officials with ETPD say the department takes pride in finding ways to make a positive impact on the community the department serves. Officials say these interactions help to promote a trusting relationship by giving officers the opportunity to interact with kids in a “non-enforcement” situation.

“We understand the importance a positive a police/community relationship and are always looking for ways to increase our outreach,” Evesham Chief of Police Christopher Chew said.

This program will run from April 15 through the end of the year.
