Boys Choir to perform Dec. 17 in Marlton

Expanding one of the areas most beloved holiday traditions, Philadelphia Boys Choir and Chorale will share its gift of song this season with a holiday concert Friday, Dec. 17, at St. Isaac Jogues Church, Elmwood and Evesboro-Medford roads. Sing, Choirs of Angels celebrates the season with traditional favorites and newly commissioned pieces under the leadership of music director, Jeffrey R. Smith.

The ensemble will debut a newly commissioned arrangement of O Little Town of Bethlehem written specifically for the group by Grammy award winner, David T. Clydesdale. This classic was originally written in Philadelphia in the 1800s at The Church of the Holy Trinity, one of this year’s performance venues. The concerts also mark the premier of a new Christmas lullaby Sleep, Little Baby, Sleep by Robert S. Cohen.

The evening performances will showcase the angelic voices of eighty boys complemented by a men’s chorale and full orchestra. The program will include a jazzy version of Go Tell It On the Mountain, It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year, We Need a Little Christmas and an a capella arrangement of O Come, O Come, Emmanuel. The diverse group will also sing a heart-warming Chanukah piece, Miracles Can Happen.

Concert begins at 8 p.m., with doors opening at 7:30 p.m. All seats are $40 with a discount for groups of 10 or more. Tickets can be purchased either online at www.phillyboyschoir.org or by calling (215) 222–3500.
