Deputy Mayor Joe Howarth honored another Eagle Scout this past Tuesday, as he awarded Jaysel Shah a proclamation for obtaining the highest rank that a Scout can achieve.
The Eagle Scout completed a project in which he refurbished a courtyard at the Animal Welfare Association of Voorhees. Howarth said that Shah repaired and repainted broken picnic tables and improved the landscaping by removing small trees and replacing deteriorated landscape tiles. He coordinated volunteers to refill the main walkway with fresh stone and create a river stone border.
His project, Howarth said, provided needed improvement to a local non-profit organization and demonstrated his appreciation of their services to homeless animals.
The project was supposed to take several days, Shah said, but because he was able to get so many volunteers it took less than one day.
“Jaysel C. Shah has displayed leadership abilities, fine character and earned the necessary skill awards and merit badges required for his Eagle Scout award,” Howarth read from the proclamation.
