Seniors Danielle Sirianni and Caroline Small were honored for their commitment to their community and serving others.
Officials at Cherokee High School are offering congratulations to seniors Danielle Sirianni and Caroline Small for being selected as recipients of the 2019 Prudential Spirit of Community Awards.
As described by the awards program itself, The Prudential Spirit of Community Awards program is the United States’ largest youth recognition program based exclusively on volunteer community service, as the program honors middle level and high school students for outstanding service to others at the local, state and national level.
According to Cherokee, Sirianni is an active member and leader of Cherokee’s Renaissance and Students’ Movement Against Cancer (SMAC) clubs.
These organizations assist both the school and local communities with running events, organizing fundraisers and raising awareness of cancer-related issues.
She was instrumental in getting SMAC involved with the Alicia Rose Victorious Foundation which is dedicated to raising awareness for teens and adults with cancer. In addition to these school-based clubs, Sirianni is also involved with the Helping Hands organization where Thanksgiving Day meals are prepared for military veterans and needy families.
She plans on majoring in elementary education in college.
As for Small, last year she and her friend began the American Sign Language club at Cherokee High School.
She is actively involved in Renaissance and volunteers at numerous school and community events.
Small is also an active member of Hope Church in Moorestown. She has participated in church missions which most recently took place this past summer. Small traveled with other church members to West Virginia and renovated houses for families in need.
She will be majoring in cellular and molecular biology in college.
Cherokee officials say the young women’s commitment to their community and serving others should be commended.
