Resident receives civic leadership award

Businessman and philanthropist Robert E. “Rob” Curley III of Marlton has received the 2013 Camden County College Civic Leadership Award from the Camden County College Foundation and CCC’s Center for Civic Leadership and Responsibility.

Curley was honored for the depth and breadth of his charitable contributions during a celebration on the College’s Blackwood Campus.

In addition to being the subject of a good-humored “roast,” he was recognized with an award reception and the presentation of a framed resolution from the college trustees.

The Penn State University graduate has spent his professional career as a leader in the banking industry with what is now TD Bank, advancing from his first job as a part-time teller in 1989 to his current position leading teams in Camden, Burlington, Cumberland, Gloucester, Mercer and Salem counties as South Jersey market president.

Throughout his career, he has parlayed his advancement into opportunities to engage in ever more impactful service.

As a volunteer, the father of two has given countless hours and immeasurable guidance to more than a dozen local organizations. This includes serving on the Camden County College Foundation Board of Directors from 2003 to 2011 and holding the position of treasurer from 2005 to 2009.

Curley currently serves as corporate campaign chair for the United Way of Camden County; on the executive board for the Boys and Girls Club of Camden County; as chairman of the Archway Programs Foundation; as treasurer for Businesses Committed to Burlington County; as a trustee of the South Jersey Chapter of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation; and on the Bancroft Corporate Campaign Cabinet. He also has lent his expertise to the organization and operation of special events for many other area entities, including the Boy Scouts of America, the Diocese of Camden and Volunteers of America.

Curley’s donations of time and talent, which have enhanced the lives of countless South Jersey residents, have been recognized throughout the region. In addition to this year’s Camden County College Civic Leadership Award, the accolades he has received have included honors from the Alicia Rose Victorious Foundation, Bancroft, the Boys and Girls Club of Camden County, the Philadelphia Business Journal, SNJ Business People and the South Jersey Young Professionals Association.
