Phillip W. Heath of Hainesport has been named chair of Samaritan Healthcare & Hospice’s Board of Trustees, effective Jan. 1.

“Phillip’s more than 25 years of experience and unparalleled expertise in health care operations and development will be a great benefit to our organization,” said Mary Ann Boccolini, president and CEO of Samaritan Healthcare & Hospice. “His business and community achievements, in addition to his passion for broadening access to quality end-of-life care for all, make him a natural choice to lead our Board. We are proud to welcome him to this new position.”

Heath serves as chief administrative officer at Tabula Rasa HealthCare, headquartered in Moorestown, which provides innovative service models and fresh approaches to health care technology.

In this role, Heath serves as an adviser to the CEO, providing strategic oversight and instructional leadership to department managers.

As a member of the Samaritan Board of Trustees, he has served on the Strategic Planning and Finance Committee.

Prior to Tabula Rasa, Heath served as chief marketing and sales officer and chief administrative officer at InnovAge, a provider of long-term care services, including the Program of All-inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE).

In addition to his work with Samaritan, Heath has served on the board of directors, and as a national delegate, for the Alzheimer’s Association, Colorado Chapter. In 2018, he received the Minority Business Leader Award from the Philadelphia Business Journal for his professional accomplishments, community leadership and philanthropy.

“I am humbled to serve as board chair for the leading hospice and palliative care provider for South Jersey’s largest hospice organization,” Heath said. “Samaritan’s mission has always been aligned with my dedication to expanding access to quality end-of-life care. I look forward to leading Samaritan into the future, as our nation’s health care needs and legislation continue to evolve.”

Heath earned a bachelor’s degree from Morehouse College, a master’s degree in health services administration from the University of Detroit Mercy and completed a health care leadership certification from Cornell University.

Samaritan is headquartered in Marlton.
