Last Burlington County shredding event of year announced

Burlington County Freeholder Director Bruce Garganio announced that residents will have one last opportunity this year to shred confidential documents and safely dispose of computers, TVs, and more on Saturday, Nov. 1 from 9 a.m. — 1 p.m. The event will be held at the County’s Resource Recovery Complex (22000 Columbus Road, Mansfield) and will be the last opportunity for document shredding in 2014.

“Over 3,300 residents participated in the previous four events this year, bringing in more than 95,180 pounds of documents for shredding and recycling 118,728 pounds of ‘E-waste,’” Garganio said. “As always, the event will be user friendly with plenty of volunteers on hand to accept recyclables.”

Residents are urged to bring only “confidential” documents for shredding, such as bank and credit card statements, tax returns, or papers with account numbers or social security numbers. Recyclables will be shredded on-site and should not be brought already-shredded. Up to four bags or boxes per household will be accepted.

Non-confidential documents such as junk mail, magazines, and catalogs should be recycled at the curb or municipal drop-off.

Residents can help preserve landfill space by bringing old electronics including:

· Computers

· Laptops

· Keyboards

· Printers

· Scanners

· Monitors

· TV’s

· Mice/Cables

· Copiers
