Intoxicated Marlton man uses stolen car to lead officers on chase

The following information is on file with the Evesham Township Police Department:

A Marlton man driving a stolen car while intoxicated led Evesham Township Police Department on a brief chase into Mount Laurel Township.

The pursuit began on Dec. 19 at 3:37 p.m. when an Evesham police officer located a vehicle that was reported stolen earlier in the shift traveling on Route 73.

The officer tried to stop the vehicle but the driver, a male, age 30, continued driving a couple of miles along Route 73 before he stopped his vehicle in heavy traffic.

The male was arrested following a brief scuffle with police.

The male, of Marlton, was charged with second degree eluding, third degree theft of a vehicle, third degree theft of credit cards, fourth degree resisting arrest, and driving while intoxicated along with other motor vehicle violations.

He is being held in the Burlington County Jail on $52,500 full bail.
