Evesham Police charge Camden City man with attempted burglary and eluding

The charges are related to the recent car burglaries that took place in the north end of town.

The following information is on file with the Evesham Township Police Department:

Following this past weekend’s series of overnight burglaries in the Ravencliff and Woodstream Development, officials with the Evesham Township Police Department say those with the department have been working continuously to identify and arrest those involved.

Now, through what police describe as extensive investigative efforts and collaboration between Burlington County, Camden County and Federal law enforcement agencies, the ETPD has identified one of the individuals believed to be involved in the crime.

A Camden City man, age 21, has been charged with second-degree eluding, third-degree criminal attempt burglary and third-degree possession of stolen property. Police say his current whereabouts are unknown.

Police say the man allegedly attempted to burglarize a home on Justice Drive and is allegedly responsible for multiple car burglaries throughout Evesham Township on Feb. 3.

Specifically, according to police, during the early morning hours of Feb. 3, the man was allegedly observed on a surveillance camera attempting to gain entry into a home in the Ravenscliff Development.

While allegedly in the act of burglarizing a vehicle, police say the man was startled by an Evesham Police officer checking the neighborhood at 3 a.m., resulting in him allegedly fleeing on foot, entering a stolen vehicle and initiating a police pursuit.

According to police, the man quickly crashed his vehicle, fled on foot into the woods and evaded capture.

Police say the man is also wanted for questioning regarding multiple vehicle burglaries throughout Evesham Township. The man has been entered into a National Database as a wanted person.
