‘Searching your African American Roots’ event scheduled at Evesham Library on Feb. 16

Attendees can join a professional genealogist to learn how get started searching for one’s African American roots.

On Feb. 16 at 1 p.m. the Evesham Library will host an event entitled “Searching your African American Roots.”

Those who sign up for the event can join a professional genealogist to learn how get started searching for one’s African American roots.

Goals of this seminar include:

  • Where to start: organizing information
  • How to proceed: locating records
  • Reading and understanding US records
  • Evaluating the evidence

Event presenter Loretta Bonaccorso has been conducting genealogical research for more than 30 years as fee for service and on a voluntary basis.

Some of her time has been spent volunteering at the local LDS genealogical library, teaching senior citizens to perform research online, giving public genealogy workshops and public seminars.
