Evesham Police arrest wanted man allegedly possessing 16 bags of heroin

The incident began when police stopped a vehicle that allegedly crossed over a center dividing line into an oncoming lane of traffic.

The following information is on file with the Evesham Township Police Department:

On Jan. 26 at 12:30 a.m, an officer patrolling the Evesham Township Police Department’s Data Driven Approach to Crime and Traffic Safety (DDACTS) Zone observed a vehicle being operated in an allegedly careless manner.

A vehicle stop was initiated after the vehicle allegedly crossed over a center dividing line into an oncoming lane of traffic.

During the officer’s investigation, police say he allegedly observed drug paraphernalia in plan-view. The driver was arrested and a subsequent search resulted in the alleged discovery of 16 bags of heroin and drug paraphernalia.

Police also say it was determined that the male was a wanted person out of the Burlington County Prosecutors Office.

Arrested:

A male, age 27, of Marlton, was charged with third-degree possession of heroin and a disorderly persons offense for possession of drug paraphernalia.

He was lodged in the Burlington County Jail.

According to police, DDACTS integrates location-based crime and traffic data to establish effective and efficient methods for deploying law enforcement and other resources.

Using geo-mapping to identify areas that have high incidences of crime and crashes, DDACTS uses traffic enforcement strategies that play a dual role in fighting crime and reducing crashes and traffic violations.

Drawing on the deterrent of highly visible traffic enforcement and the knowledge that crime often involves the use of motor vehicles, the goal of DDACTS is to reduce the incidence of crime, crashes, and traffic violations in Evesham Township.
