Evesham Police say pedestrian stop leads to two wanted persons arrested and heroin seized

Police say the incident took place on Oct. 16, at 5:35 p.m., when an officer conducted a pedestrian stop on two males walking on RouteĀ 70.

The following information is on file with the Evesham Township Police Department:

On Oct. 16, at 5:35 p.m., an officer conducted a pedestrian stop on two males walking on Route 70 inside the departmentā€™s Data Driven Approach to Crime and Traffic Safety (DDACTS)Ā zone.

During the stop, police say the officer discovered that each male were allegedly wanted persons. Following the arrest, police also say one male was allegedly found to be in possession of heroin and each allegedly had hypodermic needles in their possession.

Arrests:

A male, age 37, of Cherry Hill, was charged with third-degree possession of heroin and a disorderly persons offense for possession of a hypodermic needle. He was lodged in the Burlington County Jail with noĀ bail

A male, age 40, of Cherry Hill, was charged with a disorderly persons offense for possession of a hypodermic needle. He was turned over to the Cherry Hill Police Department to be processed on their outstanding arrestĀ warrant.

According to police, DDACTS integrates location-based crime and traffic data to establish effective and efficient methods for deploying law enforcement and other resources. Using geo-mapping to identify areas that have high incidences of crime and crashes, DDACTS uses traffic enforcement strategies that play a dual role in fighting crime and reducing crashes and traffic violations. Drawing on the deterrent of highly visible traffic enforcement and the knowledge that crime often involves the use of motor vehicles, the goal of DDACTS is to reduce the incidence of crime, crashes and traffic violations in Evesham Township.
