Battle over future of sports betting at Garden State Park heads to court
The future of sports betting in Cherry Hill could be decided in a courtroom. Cherry Hill Towne Center Partners LLC has filed a lawsuit as it hopes to overturn a 19-year-old deed restriction that allows only GS Park Racing to own a gambling facility on the former site of the Garden State Park racetrack. Cherry Hill Towne Center Partners owns the shopping center at the former track, while GS Park Racing owns a 10-acre parcel previously reserved for off-track betting.
Planning board allows developer to move forward with Kresson Road development
A proposal to build 16 homes in a 14-acre wooded residential area off of Kresson Road is moving forward. The Cherry Hill Township Planning Board gave preliminary approval to the project after hearing hours of testimony from professionals and complaints from local residents. A number of residents expressed concerns with traffic, increased housing density and loss of trees.
Wilson is ready to ‘steer the ship’ for Rotary Lunch Club
More than 10 years after originally joining the Moorestown Rotary Lunch Club, Cherry Hill native Michael Wilson is taking over the reins. Wilson is stepping into the role as president of club. A current resident of Moorestown, Wilson grew up in Cherry Hill and attended school at Cherry Hill High School West. Wilson said he plans to “steer the ship while everyone else paddles” on their journey to making a positive impact on local and international communities.
Jason Kelce, Malcolm Jenkins named keynote speakers for 2018 Katz JCC Sports Award Dinner
A pair of Philadelphia Eagles will be this year’s guest speakers at the 2018 Katz JCC Sports Award Dinner. The JCC announced last week that Jason Kelce and Malcolm Jenkins will be the keynote speakers for this year’s event. The JCC Sports Award Dinner is held annually to recognize community leaders who serve as positive role models to children, teens, and adults in South Jersey.
Cherry Hill moving company cited for operating without a license
A Cherry Hill moving company was one of 29 cited across the state for operating without a license last week. The New Jersey Attorney General’s office last week announced that Rosie’s Master Movers in Cherry Hill was one 29 movers in New Jersey issued a Notice of Violation as a result of Operation Mother’s Attic, a state-led undercover sting targeting public movers suspected of operating without licenses.
