Council held a four minute meeting with a small agenda and a handful of attending residents on the morning of Wednesday, March 27.

There were no proclamations, reports from officials, comments from the public or ordinances on first or second reading introduced.

A resolution was approved to support the township’s application for a Camden County Open Space, Farmland, Recreation and Historic Trust Fund Grant, with the goal of improving recreation facilities at Old Orchard Park.

Council President David Fleisher said that the resolution is an endorsement for the potential grant. The park is located behind Joseph D. Sharp Elementary School off of Thornhill Road.

The resolution, along with another that moves forward from the secondhand goods ordinance that was recently adopted to allow for stricter business regulations, help improve the town, “and to improve what we’re doing to ensure that we continue to have a township that runs smoothly and compliantly with all of our ordinances,” Fleisher said.

The resolution allows for the selection of a computerized tracking system of secondhand transactions in the police department.

Other news

The township is involved in several upcoming events, Spokeswoman Bridget Palmer said.

Next on the agenda is April 10’s Welcome to Cherry Hill at the Cherry Hill Public Library in the lower level conference center at 6 p.m.

More than 800 new residents, including both renters and homeowners, were invited to the event, she said.

“That was new residents that moved in within the last year,” she said.

The goal of the night is to reach as many residents as possible and share information about town organizations and programs.

If anyone did not receive an invite, but would like to attend, contact the mayor’s office by calling (856) 488–7878.

Mayor Chuck Cahn will be taking a break from his monthly Walk with the Mayor events after this month. The walks have been part of his ongoing Mayor’s Wellness Campaign.

The point was to “keep people active when it’s not so nice out,” Palmer said.

This month’s date is scheduled for Wednesday, April 17 at 8 a.m., meeting in Macy’s Grand Court of the Cherry Hill Mall. There is no cost to attend.

Next meeting

The next full meeting of the Cherry Hill Council will be held on Monday, April 8 at 7:30 p.m. in town hall.
