Edie Lutnick, author of “An Unbroken Bond, The Untold Story of How the 658 Cantor Fitzgerald Families Faced the Tragedy of 9/11 and Beyond,” will be speaking at Temple Beth Sholom on May 19 from 9 to 11 a.m.
This event, part of TBS Sisterhood’s second annual Author Brunch program, is being co-sponsored by the “Author on the Road”speaker series of The Bank of America Festival of Arts, Books, and Culture of the Katz JCC . It is open to the community.
Lutnick, whom President Obama called a “hero,” co-founded and heads the Cantor Fitzgerald Relief Fund that has raised and distributed over $250 million to victims of terrorism, disasters and emergencies.
A labor lawyer by training, Edie Lutnick’s life changed forever on Sept. 11, 2001, when her younger brother perished in the World Trade Center and her other brother’s firm was nearly destroyed. Post 9/11, Edie Lutnick emerged as a strong advocate and family leader not only on behalf of the families of the Cantor Fitzgerald employees who perished, but of all 9/11 victims’ families, representing their positions on key issues. Lutnick also currently oversees the Relief Fund’s Hurricane Sandy Family Support Program, which donated $10 million in financial assistance to families severely affected by Hurricane Sandy.
Lutnick’s book will be available for purchase at TBS on the day of the event.
A Kosher bagels and lox brunch will be served, with desserts by Soups & Sweets, a program of the Special Needs Department of the Jewish Family and Children’s Service of Southern New Jersey.
