Charny Karpousis Altieri & Donoian, P.A. is collecting new or gently used books through the end of December.
There is still time for Cherry Hill residents to drop off books as part of Charny Karpousis Altieri & Donoian’s BookSmiles book collection drive.
Through the end of December, the firm is be collecting new or gently used books appropriate for children from infants through sixth grade to donate to BookSmiles. Founded in September 2017 by Cherry Hill resident Larry Abrams, BookSmiles has collected, sorted, and distributed more than 75,000 books, giving underserved children in New Jersey the opportunity to build personal libraries. The non-profit organization focuses on developing literacy skills at infancy so that children can read before kindergarten. BookSmiles also provides educators with free books for their classrooms.
“We are all moms and it was alarming to learn the number of children who are growing up without books right here in our area,” partners Karen Rose Karpousis, Michelle Altieri and Nicole Donoian-Pody said jointly. “We are excited to become part of the BookSmiles team of literacy activists who by gathering and distributing children’s books can make a true difference in the lives of kids. We welcome all donations for this worthwhile cause.”
