The Cherry Hill School District has received grants from the state of New Jersey to aid in funding 40 improvement projects across the district. The total value of the grants is $7.16 million. The Board of Education approved the capital projects at last night’s Board of Education meeting.
With these grants, 12 of the district’s elementary schools and its three middle schools will have brand new boilers for the start of the 2014–2015 school year. Including the high schools, 37 new boilers will be installed during the summer.
In addition to the new boilers, boiler room pumps and piping will be replaced, outfitting these schools with completely refurbished boiler plants. Automatic Temperature Control Systems will be installed in each of the boiler rooms, improving both function and energy efficiency, and allowing the District to monitor and adjust the systems electronically.
At Cherry Hill High School East, a “pony boiler” or “booster pump” will be installed, as well as upgraded controls, piping, and an Automated Control System. A portion of the school’s HVAC system also will be replaced. At Cherry Hill High School West, a boiler will be replaced, and controls, piping, and an Automated Control System will be upgraded.
Other projects at schools across the district, such as the replacement of a domestic hot water system, a new roof, fire alarm system replacements, sanitary sewer replacement, and emergency generators were approved as well.
