Palmyra Porch Walk to feature over 100 musicians

Palmyra’s talent will go on display at this year’s Palmyra Porch Walk Music Festival.

The Festival, on Sept. 7, will feature predominantly local musicians, many of them playing on their own porches, according to Festival Director Renee Cappetta.

“We called for local bands especially this year, and the call was answered,” she said. “It is wonderful to see our resident musicians so excited to play. We had to expand our porch search this year, because the Festival has tripled in size since its inception in 2018.

“We have music to suit every taste, from Bluegrass to Emo, Jazz to Punk, Motown to Gospel,” Cappetta added. “The entire Festival is made possible by volunteers, including musicians and porch hosts.

“The enthusiasm has been overwhelming, the whole town will be alive with music.”

This year’s festival is a free event, and the biggest yet, with over 100 musicians playing on about 20 porches across Palmyra with a free concert in the evening by the Won Ton Soup Band.

The Porch Walk Festival will be held from 2-6 p.m. and the closing concert is at Flournoy Park from 7-9 p.m. A full festival program is available at https://improvepalmyra.com/porch-walk-musicfestival/, or by email at [email protected].

This is the fourth biannual Palmyra Porch Walk Music Festival. It is sponsored by The Guitar Guild Music Academy and the Palmyra Improvement Association, and supported by many local businesses.
