County United Way names campaign leaders

The United Way of Gloucester County (UWGC) has announced that Claire Riggs will serve as its 2024 campaign chair and Karen Greene its vice chair.

Riggs, managing partner at Riggs Creative Group LLC and an adjunct professor at Rowan University, marks 25 years of involvement with the United Way of Gloucester County, according to an organization press release. Since 1999, she has volunteered for a number of United Way committees and for its board of directors, and was recognized with a Spirit of United Way award in 2006.

Riggs’ company is a founding member of the LIVE UNITED 365 Small Business Circle, a way for companies with fewer than 35 employees to give back to their communities. Riggs was also instrumental in the formation of Leadership Gloucester County – the United Way’s newest collaborative effort between Rowan College of South Jersey and the county – that prepares next-generation leaders to grow in their careers and in community service.

Greene is the retired senior vice president and chief audit executive for Cencora Inc., which formerly sponsored a United Way workplace campaign. She was instrumental in the implementation of best practices in the workplace for more than 12 years and secured sizable corporate gifts from her organization.

Green has been actively involved with the United Way since 2006 and continues to serve on its board of directors, the Campaign Cabinet and the Community Impact Group.

“We are thrilled to have Claire Riggs and Karen Greene at the helm of our 2024 campaign,” said Michael Gower, executive director of United Way of Gloucester County. “Their dedication and innovative spirit are invaluable assets as we strive to deepen our community engagement and broaden our impact.

“With their leadership,” he added, “I am confident that we will forge stronger connections with local leaders, businesses, and volunteers, ultimately enhancing the well-being of our community.”

“Karen and I are honored to lead the 2024 Campaign,” Riggs noted, “and look forward to meeting with our business and community leaders to share the United Way’s unique role as the umbrella organization that helps Gloucester County thrive.”

The mission of United Way is to be the leader in building community capacity to foster individual well-being and build self-sufficiency in consumers and providers of health and human services in the county.
