Cherry Hill, South Jersey residents develop passion for pickleball

The opening of the first public pickleball courts in Cherry Hill Township earlier this summer have helped lead to an explosion of interest in the sport of pickleball. Cherry Hill resident Denise Donald has turned what was a small group of avid picklers into a community happening. Daily, dozens of players take the courts for a few hours of pickleball fun at Lion’s Den Park.

Cherry Hill Public Schools prepares for another school year

Students in Cherry Hill Public Schools will start another school year on Tuesday, Sept. 6. There will be a new science curriculum for high school freshmen and new turf fields at both Cherry Hill high schools. Superintendent Joe Meloche highlighted many of the new changes for this upcoming school year in a recent interview with the Sun.

Cherry Hill Fire Department first fire agency in New Jersey to be named Internationally Accredited Agency

The Cherry Hill Fire Department received exciting news earlier this week when it received International Accredited Agency status from the Commission on Fire Accreditation International. The fire department is the first in New Jersey to receive this status. Cherry Hill Fire Chief Thomas Kolbe stated that the agency’s achievement of Accredited Agency status “demonstrates the commitment of the agency to provide the highest quality of service to our community.”

Instructor at JCC Camps at Medford arrested on child pornography charges

Medford resident Stephen B. Gifford was arrested last Thursday on charges of possession and distribution of child pornography. Gifford worked at the JCC Camps at Medford, a summer day camp overseen by the Katz JCC in Cherry Hill. The Burlington County Prosecutor’s Office said numerous digital storage devices were seized during the arrest on Thursday morning. The devices contained pornographic images and videos of adult males engaged in sexual acts with underage females. Gifford was lodged in the Burlington County Jail. Bail has been set at $100,000 with no 10 percent option.

Cherry Hill Police searching for suspect in multiple fraud, theft cases

Cherry Hill Police are on the lookout for a suspect who is wanted in multiple fraud and theft cases in three different municipalities. Police released surveillance photos of the suspect and her vehicle on Thursday morning. The suspect is thought to be connected to fraud and theft cases in Cherry Hill, Voorhees and Gloucester City.
