Tri-State K9 Crisis Response Team brings comfort to victims, families and first responders
In June, a team of dogs and their handlers flew from Philadelphia to Orlando to provide assistance, comfort and support to victims, their families and first responders. The group was from the Tri-State K9 Crisis Response Team, a nonprofit based in Cherry Hill dedicated to providing emotional support, aid and comfort for victims, their families and first responders during crisis situations.
Sarah Pintel provides youthful spark to experienced Cherry Hill East girls’ volleyball team
Cherry Hill East girls’ volleyball won its first nine conference games of the 2016 season. One of the breakout players for the Cougars is sophomore Sarah Pintel, the team leader in kills and a force at the net. Pintel credits her solid season and growth as a player to her senior teammates, who helped Pintel refine her skills over the last two seasons.
David Golkow and Jake Silpe honored at 2016 JCC Sports Award Dinner
The Sun continued its profiles on the honorees at the 2016 Katz JCC Sports Award Dinner, which took place last Monday. Last week’s profiles took a look at a pair of recent Cherry Hill High School East grads. David Golkow received the David Back Memorial Maccabi Award last Monday, while Jake Silpe was the recipient of the Emerging Leadership Award.
Sixth annual Jim Fifis Lung Cancer Research Fund Dinner raises $150,000
Last Tuesday, the sixth annual Jim Fifis Lung Cancer Research Fund Dinner was held at Ponzio’s diner in Cherry Hill. About $150,000 was raised at the event for the Jim Fifis Lung Cancer Research Fund. As part of The Sun’s Throwback Thursday series, readers got a chance to look back at how the fund got started in 2011 and the impact it has had over the past six years.
Camden County man diagnosed with second confirmed case of West Nile Virus in county
Camden County health officials announced early last week that a 65-year-old resident has been diagnosed with West Nile Virus. The man was admitted to Camden County hospital with West Nile Virus-like symptoms on Sept. 12 and late transferred to a hospital in Pennsylvania on Sept. 20. Additional details on the man have not been released.
