After hours of public comment, Cherry Hill Planning Board adopts 2018 Master Plan

It took two meetings and more than seven hours of testimony and deliberation, but the Cherry Hill Township Planning Board adopted the township’s 2018 Master Plan last Monday. The Master Plan was adopted by unanimous vote after more than a dozen residents provided testimony on Monday and expressed concern about elements of the plan’s comprehensive housing strategy.

Cherry Hill West to feature “Newsies” as fall musical

Final rehearsals are underway as the Cherry Hill High School West theater department prepares to take the stage for its fall musical. The department will be putting on the Broadway musical version of Disney’s “Newsies.” The show will run from Oct. 26 through Oct. 28 at Cherry Hill West’s new auditorium. The musical is based on the cult-classic, 1992 feature musical film.

Victory over Cumberland a sign of progress for Cherry Hill East football

After consecutive games without a win, Cherry Hill High School East football finally turned a corner at home on Oct. 6. The Cougars defeated Cumberland Regional High School, 32–0, for the program’s first win since September of 2015. At a practice three days following the victory, head coach Andrew Daley and a number of the team’s seniors talked about the journey leading up to the win.

Inaugural Play It Forward Fall Classic a rousing success

In June, the South Jersey Storm baseball team mourned after its head coach, Neil Levine, passed away from cancer at the age of 47. To honor his memory, Neil’s kids, Sophie and Alex, decided to set up a memorial fund in his name. The Neil J. Levine Memorial Fund raises money for children in Camden who cannot afford sports equipment. The team held a fundraising tournament called the Play It Forward Fall Classic on Oct. 6 and 7.

Meet the Candidates in the 2018 Cherry Hill Board of Education Election

Last Wednesday, candidates in this year’s Cherry Hill Board of Education election discussed the biggest topics facing the school district in the board of education candidates’ forum. On Thursday, the Cherry Hill Sun ran its first-ever Meet the Candidates series for the board of education election. All 11 candidates made their pitch on why they felt they should be elected to the board of education.
