Cherry Hill students provide lesson on African-American in the arts
On Monday night, the Cherry Hill African American Civic Association honored participants in its 2017 Essay Poster and Video contest during a reception at the Cherry Hill Public Library. Students in this year’s contest were asked to profile an African-American involved in the arts who was born before 1960. All of the winning projects and honorable mentions were on display at the reception.
Cherry Hill resident hopes to spread positive message through Hate Has No Home Here campaign
Cherry Hill resident JoAnne Negrin recently began a campaign on the website tilt.com to have “Hate Has No Home Here” signs brought to Cherry Hill and other communities around South Jersey. The signs became a common site in communities across the country this year after a group of neighbors from Chicago began passing them out last November.
Security remains top priority for Jewish Federation of Southern New Jersey
After a bomb threat was called into the Katz JCC on Feb. 27, staff and members reacted to quickly to get all of the building’s occupants to safety. Though the incident was the first threat ever called into the JCC, the center was well prepared to handle the situation. Cherry Hill East swimmer victorious at NJSIAA Meet of Champions
Cherry Hill High School East freshman swimmer Grace Yoon had a successful first trip to the NJSIAA Meet of Champions last week. Yoon won the 100 breaststroke event, defeating Rachel Maizes of Scotch Plains-Fanwood by 0.17 seconds to win first place. Yoon also finished in third place in the 200 individual medley with a time of 2:05.66.
Unitarian Universalist Church hosting Racism and Intolerance Conversations this weekend
The Unitarian Universalist Church in Cherry Hill will continue the conversation about racism and tolerance this afternoon at an event. More than 150 participants from multi-racial groups are expected to participate later today. Unitarian Universalist Church in Cherry Hill, Christ our Light Catholic Church, the Cherry Hill African American Civic Association and Congregation M’kor Shalom are all sponsoring the event.
