Attorneys Benjamin A. Levin and Mark D. Shapiro of Hyland Levin LLP law firm in Marlton have been named in Who’s Who Legal — Franchise Law 2018. According to the publisher, these lawyers “were nominated by their peers as one of the world’s leading practitioners in the field.” The publication is the result of “months of research” as the publishers have “canvassed and analyzed the opinions of law firm clients and Franchise experts from around the world.” Both Levin and Shapiro are Cherry Hill residents.
Managing Partner Benjamin A. Levin, represents global food manufacturers, national franchise companies and serves as outside general counsel to several companies based in the Mid-Atlantic region. Levin’s franchise and distribution practice includes structuring and drafting agreements for franchise and other distribution relationships and franchise distributor dealer terminations, licensing, compliance with franchise laws and regulations, preparation of franchise disclosure documents, and the buying and selling of franchise systems. A certified neutral arbitrator on the American Arbitration Association’s National Registry of Commercial Arbitrators, Levin has arbitrated several national and regional franchise, distributor and dealer termination matters. Ben was the founding chair of the Franchise Law Committee of the New Jersey State Bar Association.
Partner Mark D. Shapiro is a well-respected real estate and franchise transactional attorney with a national practice. His franchise practice includes counseling regional and national franchisors on franchise structuring, operational, relationship and regulatory issues. He represents a publicly-traded franchisee with hundreds of locations across several brands. He regularly represents buyers and sellers of business assets in a variety of distribution-related industries.
Shapiro has participated as a program presenter on franchise law for the American Bar Association’s Forum on Franchising (most recently in Nashville, Tenn. in October on the Intersection of Real Estate and Franchise Law), the New Jersey Institute of Continuing Legal Education, the International Franchise Association and the Pennsylvania Bar Institute. He has also presented on real estate law for the Pennsylvania Bar Institute and Lorman Education Services. Shapiro is licensed by the New Jersey Department of Banking and Insurance, Real Estate Commission as a continuing education instructor for the New Jersey licensed real estate salespersons and brokers.
