Long-time South Jersey resident David Gelman is opening his own firm, Gelman Law LLC.
David Gelman, former Burlington Assistant County Prosecutor and long-time resident of South Jersey, is opening a new firm, Gelman Law, LLC. Located in Cherry Hill, the emerging practice will provide service, advice and representation in the areas of criminal, municipal and business law. This includes matters of DWI, expungements, business transactions and all forms of litigation.
Prior to branching out on his own, Gelman spent five years in the Burlington County Prosecutor’s Office. He was responsible for managing and trying multiple cases that ranged from drug offenses to more serious crimes including robberies and murder. This experience honed the skills he had gained working in a small private practice, in which he appeared in various municipal courts, finalized real estate and business transactions, and prepared legal documents on varying matters.
Born and raised in South Jersey, Gelman attended Moorestown High School. He chose to leave the area for college and attended the University of Arkansas where he earned his undergraduate degree in criminal justice and sociology. He remained at the university to study law and received his Juris Doctor degree at the University of Arkansas School of Law, achieving the dean’s list each year. While attending school, Gelman was a mentor for Big Brothers Big Sisters and member of Lambda Chi Alpha.
Gelman returned to South Jersey after receiving his J.D. and served a clerkship for the Honorable John Tomasello in the Superior Court of South Jersey. In this position, he expanded his knowledge, gained valuable experience and developed strong professional relations with peers and judges throughout the area. He is admitted to practice law in both New Jersey and Pennsylvania, and is active in the legal community, which includes memberships with the Burlington County, Camden County and New Jersey State Bar Associations. Most recently David joined the Camden County Bar Association Young Lawyer Committee to further the voice of young and recently admitted lawyers in the area as well as be part of CCBA’s public service arm.
Outside of work, Gelman enjoys playing golf and sports. He recently joined the Jewish Federation of South Jersey and continues his interest in mentoring youth, supporting the local Boys & Girls Club and other events. David and his wife currently reside in Mt. Laurel with their dog and are expecting their first child.
