CHAACA presents the third annual Juneteenth celebration and festival parade on June 17

Event features exciting performances, health screenings, and family-friendly activities

Prepare to immerse yourself in the vibrant spirit of Juneteenth as the Cherry Hill African American Civic Association (CHAACA) joins forces with Cherry Hill Township, and Cherry Hill Police Department to host the third Annual Juneteenth Parade and Festival. The event will occur on Saturday, June 17, 2023, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.at the scenic Croft Farm in Cherry Hill. This year’s festivities promise an unforgettable experience for the entire community. 

The parade will kick off at 10 am, led by esteemed Grand Marshal Dr. Lovell Pugh-Bassett, President of Camden County College. Following the parade, many activities, including over 40 vendors showcasing various art, candles, wellness items, tee shirts, handbags, and jewelry. Mouthwatering savory food offerings will tempt taste buds, while an exciting lineup of performers will grace the stage throughout the day. 

Health screenings and mobile clinics will also be available at the festival, ensuring the well-being of attendees. Cooper University Hospital will provide blood pressure monitoring and several healthcare institutions will provide valuable services, resources and health education. 

Juneteenth commemorates June 19, 1865, when enslaved Americans received word of their freedom on the beach in Galveston, Texas. It stands as the oldest and continuous celebration of the end of American slavery in the United States, having spread from Texas throughout the nation and the world. Recently, Governor Murphy and President Biden signed legislation designating the third Friday in June as a state and federal holiday.

We invite everyone to join us for a day filled with incredible performances, delicious food, engaging activities, and meaningful connections.”
