Cherry Hill resident Jada Griffin-Howard, a registered nurse at Jefferson Cherry Hill Hospital, was recently honored with a DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses. She was recognized for establishing a connection with one patient through trust and emotional support.
“Jada cared for me as if she knew me all of her life,” wrote the grateful patient in nominating Griffin-Howard. “She made me feel comfortable, loved, and like I was her mother.
“I am a mother of three children with a disabled husband,” the patient added, “so I usually take care of everyone. Jada helped me realize it was okay to ask for help.”
Part of an international program, DAISY honorees are nominated by patients, family members, and colleagues and chosen after a review of nominations by Jefferson’s state Clinical Recognition Committee.
The nonprofit DAISY Foundation was established in memory of J. Patrick Barnes, who died in late 1999 from complications of an autoimmune disease.
