Gloucester County will hold its annual kitten shower

The Gloucester County Animal Shelter will be hosting their second annual shower on April 30

The Gloucester County Board of Commissioners announced that the Gloucester County Animal Shelter (GCAS) will be hosting their second annual kitten shower on Saturday, April 30 from noon to 3 p.m. to celebrate the upcoming arrival of kitten season.

“In the next few weeks the shelter will be inundated with cats and kittens,” Director Frank J. DiMarco said. “Following the tradition of the baby shower, the kitten shower is a great way to help the animal shelter get everything they need to welcome and care for new kittens.”

There will be refreshments, activities for children, information on fostering and volunteering and prizes at the kitten shower. The Mobile Cat trailer will also feature some of our newest kitten arrivals.

The GCAS is looking for donations of the following:

  • Cat toys
  • Cat bed
  • Fleece blankets
  • Johnson’s baby shampoo
  • Kitten bottle kits
  • KMR kitten formula
  • Wet and dry kitten food
  • Ceramic bowls
  • Stainless steel bowls
  • Kitchen scales
  • Snuggle safe warmers
  • Cat nail clippers

Director DiMarco serves as the liaison to the Gloucester County Animal Shelter, and he says May and June are very busy and the kitten shower helps to provide the shelter with a chance to get new supplies for incoming cats and kittens.

It will also allow the shelter to find new potential foster families for some of the incoming kittens.

The Gloucester County Animal Shelter is located at 1200 N. Delsea Drive in Clayton.  For information, call (856) 881-2828 or email [email protected].
