The Gloucester County Board of Commissioners is expanding adoption hours at the Gloucester County Animal Shelter beginning Monday, Jan. 31.

Thursday: 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Friday: 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Saturday: 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Sunday: Closed

“We’ve seen a large influx of interest in adopting pets in 2021. We know that the animals we hold at the shelter depend on getting adopted into loving homes so making adoption more convenient was a priority,” said Director Frank J. DiMarco

Director DiMarco says that increasing adoption hours will lead to more adoptions and more happy families visiting the shelter for their perfect pet.

“We started the reduced fees in 2020 and have continued that through 2022. We know many animal lovers struggle with the cost of adoption. Our fees have always been affordable but we’re committing to keeping it affordable and accessible for everyone,” said Director DiMarco.

Adoption fees are currently $35 for dogs and cats five years and younger. Fees for animals six years and older are waived.

An approved application is not required to walk through the kennel, but GCAS does encourage you to fill an application out prior to arrival just in case you would like to meet an animal available for adoption. Fill out the pre-adoption application on their website: https://gloucestercountynj.gov/FormCenter/Animal-Shelter-5/PreAdoption-Application-50.
