Moorestown’s Winter Youth Volleyball

Clinics begin in January and include all grade levels.

Youth volleyball clinics start in January. This is a great way to keep active during the winter and have fun with friends.

Volleyball tones all parts of the body, improves eye hand coordination, builds agility, coordination, speed, balance and develops teamwork. These are all great attributes that translate to any sport.

Clinics are for all levels. There will be two co-ed groups, grades three through five and grades six through eight. Both play on Friday evenings beginning Jan. 21 for six weeks.

The younger group clinic is from 5:30 p.m. to 6:45 p.m. and the older group is from 6:45 p.m. to 8:15 p.m., both at the Church Street Rec gymnasium. The emphasis will be on developing the fundamentals of passing, serving, setting and basic hitting.

Instructor Daniel H. Chung has 18 years of coaching experience. He is currently the head coach for girls’ volleyball at Paul VI High School.

For the past 10 years, Chung has been the technical advisor and a head coach for the Cherry Hill Volleyball Club. Previously Chung was the assistant boys coach at Cherry Hill East for five years. Dan or his staff will be at each session.

For high school students (grades nine through 12) Friday Volleyball Night is back! Small co-ed teams will be created to adhere to state indoor guidelines. Friday nights beginning Jan. 7 through Feb. 25 from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. promise to be action packed.

Optional instruction will be offered at the beginning of each session. Two games will be played each night with breaks to hang out and regroup. There’s good, spirited competition and camaraderie. Volleyball helps boost the mood during the long, dark winter months.

Come summer you’ll be ready to hit the beach with great serves, spikes, digs and blocks.
