The Moorestown Service Clubs Council has reconvened over the last three months to begin its annual preparation for the selection of the 2022 Citizen of The Year.
The Council is comprised of representatives from the Moorestown Rotary Breakfast and Luncheon Clubs and the Moorestown Lions Club. The Council has been awarding Citizen of The Year honors annually for 77 years beginning with the selection of Percy B. Lovell in 1954 and continuing until the present with Pete and Julie Bender sharing the honor in 2021.
The Annual Citizen of The Year Award recognizes a Moorestown resident who has engaged in community service through individual volunteer effort and/or participation in group activities unrelated to their employment.
Their contribution of public service can be made at elected or appointed positions at any level of government or can simply be comprised of multiple and varied volunteer efforts including services that help bring our community closer together.
The Annual Citizen of The Year award is made by the Moorestown Service Clubs Council after the nominating petitions submitted by members of the community are reviewed by The Council. The nomination forms are available in two formats, in hard copy paper form at The Community House and The Moorestown Hardware Store.
It can also be accessed online at The Community House’s website – www.thecommunityhouse.com OR The Rotary Club of Moorestown’s website at www.moorestownrotary.org.
The nominations must be completed and submitted no later than Dec. 1. The Council’s selection will be made at its December meeting and announced promptly thereafter. A dinner in recognition of the honoree will be held at The Community House on Wednesday, Feb. 2, 2022 at 6 p.m.
